Abstract
1,61,280. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. WAYNE TANK & PUMP CO. Ltd. Nov. 10, 1965 [Nov. 10, 1964], No.45840/64. Heading G3P. A valve in a liquid supply line is closed automatically when the flow in the outlet falls below a predetermined valve. The valve comprises a housing 1 having a valve seat 5' which co-operates with a valve closure 5, connected to a piston 6. The piston 6 is slidable in a cylinder 2 and is loaded by a spring 7 towards the closed position. A rod 9 extends through the cylinder and valve and has a passage 10 whereby the upstream side of the valve can be connected to the interior of the cylinder through a port 8. The interior of the cylinder is also connected to the downstream side of the valve through a passage 18, valve 42, valve 21 and passage 20. The valve outlet has hinged apertured vanes 38 and the pressure on opposite sides of the vanes are fed through passages 35, 36 to opposite sides of a diaphragm 31 which can act on the valve 21. To open the valve, a handle rotates a lever 15 to move rod 9 to close the passage 10 and at the same time rotates a shaft 24 to cause lever 22 to open valve 42 and lever 23 to release valve 21. The closing of valve 21 is restricted by a dashpot 27 and liquid can thus escape from the cylinder 2 to the downstream side and the valve 5 opens. The valve 5 assumes a position relative to rod 9 where the flow into the cylinder 6 is equal to the outflow. The flow through the outlet causes diaphragm 31 to hold valve 21 open unless the flow falls below a predetermined valve which will allow spring 29 to close valve 21 and consequently valve 5.
