Abstract
1,061,091. Valves. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. Nov. 15, 1963 [Aug. 17, 1962], No. 31615/62. Heading F2V. A fluid flow control valve has a sealing element 37, Fig. 1, of rubber or other resilient material co-operable with a sealing surface and a porous element 36 to prevent undesired deformation of the sealing element and to engage with the sealing surface in advance of sealing engagement between the sealing surface and the sealing element. In Fig. 1, 0-rings 37 providing selective communication of a single inlet 29 with either of a pair of outlets 30, 31 are located on the valve spool 34 by porous rings 36, washers 35 and a nut 32. Tapered porous rings 91 on a valve member 90 in Fig. 3 prevent deformation of 0-ring seals 92 with which they co-operate while in Fig. 5 annular porous elements 96 ... 99 are located between the valve member 101 and its housing 93, sealing rings 104, 105 and annular spacers 106 being interposed between the elements.
