Abstract

A layer 12 of expanded thermoplastic material laid on a roof deck is covered with a layer 17 of asphalt with the interposition of a layer 14 of pitch impregnated reinforced corrugated paper or other fibrous sheet, additional means, such as stone chippings 15, filling the corrugations on at least one side of the layer 14 being provided to prevent crushing of said corrugated sheet due to softening of the impregnant by heat. As an alternative to the stone chippings 15, a flat sheet of pitch impregnated fibrous material may be laid over the corrugated sheet, Fig. 2 (not shown). A layer 13 of sheathing felt, Kraft paper or similar insulating material may be provided on one or both sides of the corrugated sheet. A layer of stone chippings may be adhered to the asphalt layer by bitumen and a coating film of paint applied over the stone chippings.
