Abstract

Cloth is rendered resistant to soil degradation by impregnation with 0.1 to 5.0% by weight of an N-(1-methylalkyl) benzylamine or a metal complex or double salt of such an amine, said benzylamine having the formula: <FORM:1060919/A5-A6/1> in which R is a hydrocarbon radical containing 7 to 21 carbon atoms. Said double salt has the formula: <FORM:1060919/A5-A6/2> in which R is as defined above, and X represents a copper, tin, zinz, chromium, mercury, iron or nickel atom. Said metal complex is the reaction product of the N-(1-methylalkyl) benzylamine with a heavy metal salt.
