Abstract

Steroids of the formula I in which the symbols R<2> to R<7> have the meanings stated in Claims 1 and 6 are prepared by reacting a corresponding compound of the formula I which has a 3-spirooxirane group with a metal alkyl compound or a complex metal hydride. The compounds of the formula I are excellent anaesthetics with a short incubation time.
