Abstract

1,163,778. Stabilizing chlorinated hydrocarbons. WACKER-CHEMIE G.m.b.H. 28 Nov., 1966 [10 Dec., 1965], No. 53148/66. Heading C5D. Chlorinated hydrocarbons for use in degreasing metals, dry-cleaning and extraction purposes are stabilized by the addition of one or more compounds of the general formula in which R 1 to R 5 each represent H, a C 1-3 alkyl radical, a C 1-3 hydroxyalkyl radical or R 1 and R 2 or R 4 and R 5 together with the adjacent N atom form a saturated heterocyclic ring of 5 or 6 members; or R 1 and R 4 or R 2 and R 5 form a divalent radical; A is a C 1-3 divalent linear alkyl radical or a phenylene radical, x is 1-4 and n is 0-4. Specific amines are ethylenediamine, trimethylenediamine, triethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine and tetraethylenepentamine. They may be added in 0À001- 0À02% by weight. Di-isopropylamine, pyrrol or N-methylpyrrol may also be added.
