Abstract
1,060,863. Elevators. OSSAKKI A.G. Feb. 25, 1964 [Feb. 27, 1963], No. 7766/64. Addition to 939,746. Heading B8A. The container handling apparatus of the parent Specification, Fig. 1, is modified in that an elevator, Fig. 1, is coupled in to the conveying system to lift the containers from the lower to the higher conveyer for conveyance to a further work place. The apparatus of Fig. 1 is fed at its lower level by one of four endless conveyers in opposed pairs 11, 12, 11<SP>1</SP> (one of which is not shown), and at its upper level feeds out to one of four similarly disposed endless conveyers 13, 14, 13<SP>1</SP>. A container B delivered by conveyer 11 passes on to rollers 16<SP>1</SP> of a ramp 16 which is gravitationally tilted about 18 onto an abutment 58 whence the container rolls on to a roller surfaced support 24 co-plannar with the ramp 16. The support 24 is tilted by a pivoted lever 22<SP>1</SP>, 22<SP>11</SP> engaged by the tilting ramp. The support 24 is pivotable about either of two perpendicular horizontal axes 27<SP>1</SP>, 2711 against return springs 24<SP>1</SP>. A spring catch, Fig. 5 (not shown), locks the support 24 in the inclined position until the container B engages the lock to release it. A pair of endless vertical chains, 30, 31 are then started in motion and roller tipped levers 36, 37 mounted thereon engage and lift the container B from the support 24. Pivoted barrier levers 54 controlled by a roller 57 on each chain prevent premature delivery of the containers, on to the support 24. As the container approaches the top of the elevator, a support plate 40 carried on over a pair of arms 41 pivoted at 42 moves out under the container, under the control of a roller 60 on the chain 30, engaging the end of arm 41, and lifts the container clear of the conveying levers 36, 37. The plate 40 has a rollered surface and a universal mounting, similar to that of support 24 and the direction of tilt for delivery to one of the upper conveyers is controlled by latches 48, 49 which, when set, engage one side of the plate 40.
