Abstract

1,060,326. Purifying gases. J. J. DOLFI, H. BAKERJIAN and S. BAKERJIAN. May 7, 1965, No. 19481/65. Heading B1R. [Also in Division F1] Gases e.g. exhaust gases from an I.C. engine, are led through a perforated pipe 68, Fig. 4, so that some escape through holes 70 and pass together with drawn in ambient air down a tube 86 whilst the remainder drive a turbine 62. Upon leaving a perforated turbine exhaust pipe 78, the direction of flow of the gases is reversed and they pass together with drawn in ambient air down another tube 86. The end of pipe 78 may be bent through 180 degrees. The gases leaving the two tubes 86 are bubbled through cleansing liquid 90, Fig. 3, and pass through openings 52 in the top wall of the cleansing liquid reservoir to be discharged through pipes 102, 104 under the influence of an air pump 58 which is driven by the turbine. A vaned wheel 54 creates turbulence in the upper part of the cleansing liquid reservoir. When the gases to be purified are unpressurized, rotor assembly 36 may be driven by an external power source, Fig. 7 (not shown) in which case rotor 62 acts as a compressor.
