Abstract

106,030. Freeman, C. H. July 22, 1916. Treads and wearing-surfaces.-Wood blocks or sections 1 for the non-slipping treads of flooring, steps, stairs, decks, and like surfaces have hard metal containers or rings 2 driven therein and filled with molten lead, concrete asphalte, or other like hard betting substance 3. The molten material may be held in position by a screw projecting into the hole in the block, or the inner periphery of the ring may be formed with an undercut. Metal cups may be used instead of the rings 2, the cups being secured by a screw passing through the base. The molten material and the ring may be secured together and to the wood block by forming transverse holes in the side of the ring into which the molten material will run.
