Abstract
A cement and concrete strengthening agent is prepared by reacting a comminuted iron material (which consists of 10-100% metallic iron the balance being iron oxide) simultaneously or separately with an aqueous solution of sodium, potassium or ammonium chloride (the amount of chloride being 0.1-5% by weight of the iron material) and 1-8% of sodium, potassium or ammonium dichromate or sodium or potassium permanganate and then drying the resulting product. The reaction mixture may contain lignin-sulphonic acid. Portland cement concrete compositions are specified.
