Sound-absorbing plates 3, 4 of foamed plastics material or resin-bonded fibres are suspended in vertical planes to form a grid-like ceiling, the transverse plates 4 having end clips 4a (Fig. 8, not shown) which engage end formations 3c (Fig. 6, not shown) on the longitudinal plates, end hooks 3b (Fig. 6) on the longitudinal plates being engaged in clips 2 which can slide on an inverted hollow T-sectioned support member 1.
