Abstract

For building a bunch above the main winding when the latter is completed in ring-spinning apparatus, an auxiliary cam is provided having a radius which enables the ring-rails to be lifted beyond the stroke-range of the main builder cam into an upper winding position. The main cam (7, Fig. 7, not shown) is fast on a shaft (3), and the auxiliary cam (25) can be clutched to the shaft but is normally held out of engagement with the follower (8) of the reciprocating arm (9) by a spring (31) or a counterweight. The auxiliary cam has a larger radius than the main cam, and may have a notch (32) to engage the follower whereby it will continue to depress the arm (9) even if the clutch is de-energized. The effective face of the auxiliary cam may be a part at right angles to the body of the cam which extends beneath the main cam when the auxiliary cam is operative. In the circuit diagram (Fig. 8, not shown) switches (38, 36) are closed when the main wind is completed by a cam (37) on the main cam (7) and a length-measuring device (35). Relay (33) is thus connected to close switches (42 and 34) the latter closing the circuit of the clutch (23/24), to set the auxiliary cam in motion. When the bunch is completed, a second cam (43) on the main cam closes a switch (44) to connect relay (41) and open switch (40) for the clutch and close switch (52) for a motor (51) which winds the ring-rail down to starting position as determined by limit-switch (46). In an alternative arrangement, the second-cam (43) is replaced by a yarn-length switch to control the size of the bunch.
