Abstract

1349315 Knitting machines K I J ROSEN 2 June 1972 [8 June 1971] 25942/72 Heading D1C When a stop motion 9, placed between the bobbin and a thread storage feeder 4, indicates a broken thread, an electrical circuit allows the machine to stop only at a chosen point in its cycle, sufficient thread being stored to permit the machine to continue knitting until then. In a flat knitting machine 1 the stopping points will be the points of reversal. In Figure 3 the stop motion operates a relay A to close a switch a, but until the cam 10' closes the contacts 16 the relay B will hold switch b closed allowing the motor 13 to continue to operate. The cam may be driven by any convenient shaft in the machine, and may have several contact closing sections if the machine can be conveniently stopped at several positions.
