Abstract

105,769. Wieland, H. Feb. 10, 1916, [Convention date]. Samples furnished. Desoxycholic acid compounds.-Addition compounds are formed by treating desoxycholic acid, melted or in solution, with fatty acids, hydrocarbons, alcohols, phenols, phenol ethers, aldehydes, ketones, esters, alkaloids, &c. Examples are given of the production of compounds with stearic acid, naphthalene, phenol, and benzaldehyde. A compound of eight molecules of desoxycholic acid with one molecule of fatty acid (palmitic, oleic, or stearic) is identical with choleic acid. The products are intended for pharmaceutical use.
