Abstract

1,057,312. Mattresses; upholstery &c. GEORG FRITZMEIER KOMM GES. Sept. 9, 1963, No. 35577/63. Heading A4M. In a method of applying upholstery to a seat cup 1, upholstery stuffing 3 is glued to the inside of cup 1 which is then placed in an open suction box 6 which is air sealed by a cover 4 of thermoplastic material, the stuffing 3 and inner surface of cover 4 being first sprayed with adhesive. The cover 4 is heated by a removable heater 13 and suction is applied to the box 6 through a conduit 9 provided in a movable floor 7 of the box. Floor 7 is raised so that the seat is pushed against the cover 4 which is drawn into contact with the seat by suction. The thermoplastic cover 4 is hardened by cooling and cut away along the outer rim of the seat.
