Abstract

1,057,159. Retractive switches. GEO. W. KING Ltd. Oct. 22, 1965 [Nov. 13, 1964], No. 46423/64. Heading H2B. A pendant switch unit for control of hoists comprises a tubular casing 11 having end covers 10 and 12 secured to, and supporting an internal switch-carrying framework formed by two parallel spaced strip-like members 18 and 19. The members 18 and 19 carry fixed contacts 20 riveted in pairs on insulating strips 32 for cooperation with bridging rollers 27 in carriers 26 which are pivoted in opposed pairs on respective plungers 21, 22 and 23, slidably supported in the members 18 and 19. Respective retraction springs 24 act on the plungers, and an overcentre tension spring 31 (Fig. 3, not shown) between the carriers 26 on each plunger provides snap action. Flexible elements 15 are fitted in the casing 11 opposite plungers 21 and 23 which are respectively depressed to close contacts for opposite rotation of the hoist motor 40 (Fig. 4, not shown) while the plunger 22 is provided with change-over contacts to increase the motor speed when either plunger 21 or 23 is sufficiently depressed to cause a projection 25 thereon (Figs. 1 and 3, not shown) to engage the plunger 22. A slidable bar 36 (Fig. 3, not shown) prevents plungers 21 and 23 being depressed simultaneously. The members 18 and 19 and the casing 11 may be made longer to accommodate more than the three switches.
