Abstract

1,055,436. Emulsifying apparatus E: IKEDA. Oct. 15, 1963. No. 40679/63. Heading B1V. An emulsification apparatus comprises an emulsifying tank I made of a material permeable to magnetic flux and able to receive the substances to be emulsified, a device for creating a magnetic flux through the tank and consisting of one or more solenoids through which an electric current is passed, one or more permanent magnets or one or more pairs of electrodes to which an electric current is applied, a mechanical stirrer 8 and inlet and outlet conduits 5 and 2 respectively. The solenoids may be wound around the outside of the tank (Fig. 2 not shown) or fitted inside the tank (Fig. 3) and may comprise turns of copper wire or pipe, the latter being capable of carrying a cooling liquid. In the aperture of Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), preliminary mixing takes place in vessel 14 then the mixture flows into emulsifying tank 15. In the embodiment of Fig. 6 (not shown), the magnetic flux is created by means of electrodes 21, 20 fitted to rotary body 19 and tank 15 respectively.
