Abstract

Polyolefins prepared by "low-pressure" methods and after removal of catalyst residues, are rendered odourless and tasteless by drying them in contact with an atmosphere which contains less than 500 p.p.m. of free oxygen and at a temperature below the melting-point of the polyolefin. In the example, pulverulent polypropylene, in a damp condition after separation of the washing alcohol and stabilization with known stabilizers, was dried for 5 hours in a vacuum drier at 80 DEG to 85 DEG C. at a pressure of 0.1 to 0.2 atmosphere of nitrogen containing less than 1 p.p.m. of oxygen.
