1,055,260. Recording-apparatus. I. E. R. IMPRESSION ENREGISTREMENT DES RESULTATS. Nov. 11, 1963 [NOV. 12, 1962], No. 11436/66. Divided out of 1, 055, 259. Heading G1J. Recording-apparatus comprises a marking cylinder 1 on which is formed a helical rib 2 having ten convolutions 27 each corresponding to a decade 0 to 9, 10 to 19 and so on in the value of a variable to be recorded. A motor drives a signal generator cylinder 22 and the cylinder 1 together and in each revolution ten switches 6 are actuated in succession by ten helically disposed actuators 7 on the cylinder 22. A control circuit selects one of ten "decade" terminals 12 to close a corresponding switch 11 and determine which solenoid 4 will receive energy from a source 25 through an amplifier 10 when a pair of series switches 6, 8 close. The control circuit also selects one of ten "digit" terminals 9 to close the corresponding switch 8 and determine the angular position of the cylinder 1 when a mark is made on a travelling sheet 5 by the hammer 3 actuated by the selected solenoid 4.
