Abstract

[Also in Division G1 In a cigarette producing apparatus, cigarettes are weighed in batches of a predetermined number in a bulk transfer container and deviation from a target value is indicated by a pointer 144 (Fig. 8) which is deflected from a centre zero position representative of standard weight. The pointer is electrically connected via contact segments to a marker mechanism 193 which marks or perforates a tape 192 on one or other side of a standard weight line 192a if the pointer indicates a deviation. Such deviation is detected by a conventional detector 200 (not described) which transmits a signal to a counter 202 which records successive signals. If a continuing trend is detected, that is if the counter receives two or more signals indicating a measured value below or above the standard weight the counter unit 202 changes the speed of a motor 199 whereby the rate at which a distributor 205 feeds cut tobacco is adjusted.
