845,254. Train speed control. SOC. TECHNIQUE POUR L'INDUSTRIE NOUVELLE S.A. STIN. Sept. 5, 1958 [Sept. 13, 1957], No. 28528/58. Class 105. Train control and signalling equipment which automatically applies the brakes of the train if its speed exceeds that permitted for the stretch of track over which it is proceeding. The pulse generator 03 produces electrical pulses which are a function of the rate of rotation of the wheel 02 and hence of the train speed, the pulses are counted in counter 04. A constant frequency oscillator 05 produces pulses in the shaper 06 which are counted by the counter 07. The counters are started by a signal from the detector 13 produced when the train moves over the track electromagnet 11. When the count in either counter reaches a predetermined value a signal is forwarded to the sensing device 08 which initiates the operation of the braking device 14 and a lamp or bell alarm if the signal from the counter 04 arrives first (train too fast) or initiates the operation of the resetting device 09 which resets the counters to zero if the signal from counter 07 arrives first (train below permitted speed). The count which produces a signal from either or both counters is adjustable to accommodate different values of permitted speed.
