Abstract

1,054,126. Removing dust generated in industrial processes. LEESONA HOLT Ltd. July 15, 1965 [May 20, 1964], No. 20715/64. Heading F4X. [Also in Division D1] Means for removing dust generated by an industrial machine includes a duct 14 extending longitudinally over the machine. A pressure either above or below atmospheric pressure is maintained in the duct, one wall of which consists of overlapping panels 15 of rubber, plastic or other flexible material, whereby a boatshaped nozzle 18 which extends through the wall, may be moved along the duct whilst the flexible panels maintain a seal around the nozzle. The invention is said to be applicable to any industrial process such as grinding, sawing, planing or polishing, and to textile machinery such as carding machines, looms and, as shown, to yarnwinding machines, wherein the nozzle 18 is connected to a T-shaped conduit 17 mounted on a carriage 16 for longitudinal movement on rails 24. Conduit 17 connects with a flexible tube 19 terminating in a suction or blower nozzle 20 adjacent the tensioning devices 12 of rows of yarn being wound from bobbins 11 to cones 10. A suction or pressure pump (not shown) is connected to one end of duct 14. An endless chain (not shown) housed in a channel 26 drives carriage 16 from end to end of the machine. Spaced apart lugs (not shown) on the outside of duct 14 co-operate with an air valve 36 on carriage 16 to supply air under pressure via a pipe 44 to the yarn to unsettle the dust thereon as the end of pipe 44 passes thereover. Two ducts and corresponding conduits 17 and tubes 19, one for blown, the other for sucked air may be provided for alternate passage over the yarn.
