Abstract
1,053,044. Smoke generator. F. PETERSEN. Feb. 4, 1964. No. 4753/64. Heading A5G. A generator for the production of smoke for feeding to a food smoking chamber comprises a sawdust supply hopper 1 thermally insulated from a combustion chamber 16 by conical plates 2, 12 packed with, for example glass wool. A rotating shaft 7 carries a stirrer 6, a baffle disc 14 and a scraper 20. Sawdust drops through the centre of the insulated conical plates 2, 12 onto the disc 14 from which it is transferred in controlled amounts to a non-rotating electrically heated disc 18 by an adjustable scraper 17 co-operating with the rotating disc 14. A further scraper 20 continuously removes surplus, partly burnt out, sawdust from the disc 18.
