Abstract

1,051,655. Stabilizing polyoxymethylenes. CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS A.G. Sept. 18. 1963 [Sept. 19, 1962]. No. 36686/63. Heading C3P. High molecular weight polyoxymethylenes are stabilized by addition of a cyclic ureide. The ureide is preferably present in added amount from 0À001 to 10%. The polymers to be stabilized may be copolymers of trioxane or formaldehyde with ethylene oxide, diglycolformal, styrene or acrylonitrile. Specified stabilizers are diethylbarbituric acid, 5-methyl- 3-4-dihydrouracil, di-hydrouracil, phenylethylbarbituric acid, cyclohexenylethylbarbituric acid, barbituric acid, ceramil, alloxane and hydantoin.
