Abstract
1,138,100. Oxymethylene polymer composition. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 13 Dec., 1967 [14 Dec., 1966], No. 56540/67. Heading C3P. Oxymethylene polymers are stabilized by incorporating a condensation product of melamine, dicyandiamide and formaldehyde therein. The stabilizer is preferably incorporated by mixing an aqueous solution of the condensation product with the oxymethylene polymer and evaporating the water. The oxymethylene polymers may be obtained by the polymerization of trioxan, suitably with the usual stabilizing comonomers, e.g. cyclic ethers and thioethers, heterocyclic nitrogen compounds containing one or more sulphonyl groups, siliconcontaining comonomers, and compounds containing a vinyl or vinylidene group. In the examples, a trioxan-bis-methyl-sulphonyl-imidazolidine copolymer is stabilized with the above condensation product and also 4-methyl- 6-t-butyl phenol.
