Abstract

1,051,554. Heat-sensitive compositions. ALLIED CHEMICAL CORPORATION. March 11, 1964 [March 15, 1963], No.10338/64. Heading G2C. Heat-sensitive compositions comprise, suspended in a non-reactive, film-forming binder, (i) a bis(p-dialkylaminoaryl)methane in which one of the methane hydrogen atoms has been replaced by an alkylamino, heterocyclic nitrogen or sulphonamide group in solid form and (ii) an acid-reacting substance which is (a) a solid non-tautomeric acid having a dissociation constant of at least 1 x10<SP>-10</SP> (b) the anhydride of such an acid, (c) a solid acid-reacting salt of an acid having a dissociation constant of at least 1 x 10<SP>-10</SP>, said salt being at least 0À5% soluble in water at 20‹C., or (d) a solid prototropic acid having in one form a dissociation constant of at least 1 x 10<SP>-4</SP>. The composition is coated onto a support, or the components (i) and (ii) each separately suspended in binder may be successively coated onto a support, to form a heatsensitive copy sheet. Acid-reacting substances specified are succinic, stearic, gallic, sulphamic and maleic acids, their anhydrides, mono-sodium acid citrate, potassium alum, aluminium sulphate, potassium acid tartrate, sodium acid phosphate, ammonium gallate, ammonium benzoate, dichlorobenzidine dihydrochloride, 2-amino-5-naphthol- 7-sulphonic acid, saccharin, barbituric acid and uric acid.
