Abstract

1,050,460. Powder metallurgy. EUROPEAN ATOMIC ENERGY COMMUNITY (EURATOM). Dec. 7, 1964 [Dec.13, 1963; Oct.22, 1964], Nos. 49451/63 and 43168/64. Heading C7D. A sintered compact of Al - Al 2 O 3 is formed by heat treating at 660‹ - 750‹C. for a time within the area A marked in the accompanying graph. The heating may be carried out on the green compact to effect sintering or it may be effected after sintering. The time period ranges from 15 hours at 660‹C. to 1 hour at 750‹C. The compact contains 7% Al 2 O 3 and the heat treatment is carried out under vacuum or an inert atmosphere.
