Abstract
1,050,286. Endless conveyers. BAGSHAWE & CO. Ltd. July 2, 1965 [Aug. 4, 1964], No. 30428/64. Heading B8A. Means C for feeding articles E to platforms F spaced along and bridged across endless flexible parallel members of the conveyer system A of Figs. 1, 2, 3 (not shown) while the platforms F move in a horizontal plane comprises an article supporting frame 1 adjacent the path of the platforms and article pushers 8 mounted on parallel endless members 7 and protruding up through slots in the frame 1, which pushers move in timed relation with the arrival of platforms F adjacent the end of the feeding means. Articles E<SP>1</SP> are placed on the frame 1, against a stop 12 which prevents articles sliding away from the conveyer system A when the feeding means C is inclined away from the system A, until a pusher 8 engages the article. The frame 1 may be marked to indicate the maximum length of article or plurality thereof from the stop 12 to suit the length of the platforms F. The endless members 7 may be driven via transmission 5 from the conveyor system A or may be independently driven in synchronism therewith. The feeding means C may be utilized as a receiving means when reversed whereupon the stop is either retracted or removed. A roller 11 intermediate the means C and system A aids the transference of smaller articles. In the embodiment of Fig. 6 (not shown) a plurality of freely rotating rollers protrude through the frame 1 to support the articles. In the embodiment of Fig. 10 (not shown), the article supporting surface of the feed means comprises a series of transverse cylindrical rollers.
