Abstract

1,049,647. Spray-producers. AS-MOTOR G.m.b.H. KOMM-GES. Oct. 14, 1963 [Oct. 15, 1962; July 19, 1963; July 30, 1963], No. 40392/63. Heading B2F. A spray producer comprises a container 10, a pipe 11 and a regulator valve 12. The latter embodies interengaging relatively rotatable hollow cylindrical portions 19 and 20 the former incorporating a mixing chamber 32 and a valve member 25 whilst the latter carries a nozzle member 14 and supports a hollow cylinder 39, a valve member 26 and a ball 28. This ball forms a non-return valve between the members 25 and 26 whilst the cylinder 39 is secured to the portion 20 such that rotation thereof relative to the portion 19 will allow liquid from the container to emerge from the spray nozzle. The container 10 surrounds an inner casing having an air inlet 15 and prior to the filling of the container, the inner casing is air inflated. The chamber 32 is thereupon filled with any desired chemical through aligned apertures 35 and 36 and the member 14 is removed from the valve portion 20. A source of water such as a tap is fixed to the portion 20 water being thereupon forced via the ball valves 25, 26, 28, the chamber 32 and the pipe 11 to the container 10 where it compresses the air-filled inner casing. When the pressures in the container are equalized the water source is disconnected from the valve 12 and the nozzle member 14 re-inserted. The apparatus is now ready for use, rotation of the valve portion 20 producing the desired spray. The inner container casing may be replaced by a sealed air-filled resilient ball or a ball of compressible solid material or the container may be split into two by a resilient diaphragm. Further embodiments show the container with a ball valve of magnetizable rubber which is adapted to engage a seating, at the inlet to the container, of a similar material. In another form the invention comprises a portable sprayer having a container 20, Fig. 5, to which a suitable liquid solution is fed through a regulator and a non-return valve device 108-see Fig. 4 (not shown)-a pipe 203, a tube 211, a mixing chamber 202, a rigid tube 210, a flexible tube 209 and a diaphragm pressure actuated valve 204. In this apparatus the spray energy is derived from the air trapped and compressed by the liquid solution in the container 201. The pressurizing of the latter is aided by a hand pump 206 actuation of which forces air into the mixing chamber 202.
