Abstract
1,026,206. Spray-producers. DIE CASTORS PROPRIETORY Ltd. Oct. 22,1963 [Oct. 24, 1962], No. 41657/63. Heading B2F. A reaction type rotary water sprinkler comprises a hollow body member 6 having nozzle arms 11 and 16 Figs. 1,4, placed relatively offset to each other-and a balance weight 14. The body is rotatably mounted relative to an upright water pipe (not shown) though a threaded coupling 41 secured to a spindle 17. The latter extends into the water inlet of the body member 6 and is secured therein through the application of an internally threaded sleeve 28 which engages the threads 9 formed externally of the member 6 and clamps a polytetrafluorethylene combined bearing and sealing ring 31 and a rubber sealing ring 36 between it and the lower face 21 if an annular abutment 18 formed on the spindle 17. A compressed spring 27 is located between the upper face 19 of the abutment 18 and a flanged collar member 22. In operation the ring 36 rotates with the spindle 17 and bears on a stationary inclined surface 37 of the ring 31 whilst the upper edge of the spring-loaded collar 22 forms a stationary bearing for a ring 25 rotating with the member 6. The water pressure within the member 6 tends to force the member upwardly relative to the spindle 17 and thus compress the sealing ring 36 between the ring 31 and the abutment 18. This upwardly directed tension is assisted by the spring 27. The nozzles such as 13 are readily replaceable and the passageways within the arms 11 and 16 may be divided by longitudinal partitions.
