Abstract

1,049,487. Making terminals; welding by pressure. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Sept. 6, 1963 [Nov. 19, 1962], No. 43597/62. Headings B3A and B3R. In forming a terminal on an electric cable an end of the cable is placed in a metal tube and the end and tube are united by resistance pressure welding to form a flat strip at the end of the cable. An end of a multi-strand copper or aluminium cable is placed within a copper or aluminium tube and the assembly is resistance welded at a temperature of about 900‹ C. at a pressure of about 5000 lb. per square inch. The flat strip formed at the end of the cable has a hole drilled therethrough.
