Abstract
1,048,388. Concentrating liquids by evaporation. SOCIETE FIVES LILLE-CAIL. Aug. 13, 1963 [Aug. 16, 1962], No. 32007/63. Heading B1B. The solution to be concentrated is introduced together with exhaust steam in a superheated state from source 28, e.g. a turbine, into concentrator 27 where the emulsion is in heat-exchange with steam, at a temperature of about 280‹F., which has been generated in boiler 21 and passed into the heater of the concentrator via reducing- valve 23. The partially concentrated solution is then submitted to multiple-effect evaporation in a series of evaporators 14...18. The heater of evaporator 14 is supplied with steam from concentrator 27 and source 28,the pressure being kept substantially constant by adding additional steam from boiler 21 via valve 23 which is controlled by relay 22. Valve 26 is automatically controlled by relay 25 in dependence on the concentration of the final product as determined by analyser 24. The pressure of the evaporation in stage 15 is kept substantially constant by regulating the rate of flow of vapour between stages 17 and 18.
