1,048,382. Making self-locking nuts; rolling. FIRTH CLEVELAND FASTENINGS Ltd. April 13, 1964 [Jan. 11, 1963; June 27, 1963], Nos. 4727/65 and 16347/65. Divided out of 1,048,381. Headings B3A and B3M. [Also in Division F2] A metal self-locking nut includes a polygonal body portion 1 and an integral annular upstanding collar 2 which is deformed inwardly from a round to an oval section. The collar before deformation may be cylindrical, convex, or concave in profile or tapered as at 7 (Fig. 3, not shown). A milled edge can be provided on the collar and the threads coated with lubricant. Methods of manufacturing the nut are described in Specification 1,048,381.
