Abstract

In a deionization process for the treatment of water by in series a strongly-acidic cation-exchange a weakly-basic anion-exchanger and a strongly-basic anion-exchanger the caustic regenerant liquid from the strong anion-exchanger is diluted to reduce its silica content to below one per cent and it is then used to regenerate the weak anion-exchanger.
