Abstract

Treatment for regeneration effluent from ion-exchange water treatment plant. F6B. By employing a bed of weak ion-exchange resin through which is passed, alternately, acid effluent and alkaline effluent. Essentially, the bed of weak ion-exchange material is an operational component of the demineralising plant for which regeneration is required. Preferably the weak ion-exchange resin is a slightly acidic cation exchange material or a slightly basic anion exchange material. The direction of flow of regeneration effluent through the bed of weak ion-exchange resin should be opposite to the direction of flow of water in the demineralising process.
