Abstract
1281558 Ion exchange CRANE CO 15 Dec 1969 [16 Dec 1968 3 Oct 1969] 61076/69 Heading B1J In an ion-exchange process, water is passed first through a cation exchange resin bed and then through a bed containing an anion exchange resin and a strongly acidic cation exchange resin which are optionally in at least partial admixture. Regeneration is effected by separating the cation exchange resin and the anion exchange resin in the mixed bed, treating the separated cation exchange resin and the first cation exchange resin in series with the same regenerant acid, regenerating the separated anion exchange resin with alkali, rinsing regenerants from all of the resins and remixing the separated anion and cation exchange resins to reform the mixed resin bed.
