Abstract

1,048,177. Transistor switching circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 23, 1965 [Aug. 26, 1964], No. 36056/65. Heading H3T. A transistor whose emitter-collector path is in series with a transmission line for switching purposes as in Specification 779,884 is compensated for undesired transmission through its base-emitter capacitance when turned off, by a tapped inductance 17, 19 so that the signal voltage induced in winding 19 is fed to the base through capacitor 10 to be equal and opposite to that passed through the baseemitter capacitance. When two such circuits are connected to a common output line (Fig. 3, not shown) the inductor 17, 19 of each input circuit and the common inductor 18 of the output circuit are each tuned to the operating frequency, e.g. the 11À096 Mc/s. group pilot frequency in a telecommunication system. The output impedance of each switching arrangement can then be adjusted separately by detuning each input circuit while eliminating the imaginary part of the output impedance by the compensating network. For two-way transmission (Fig. 4, not shown) a symmetrical transistor is used, with a compensating network on each side of it.
