Abstract

1, 046, 684. Liquid infusion apparatus. SOC. ANON. LABORATOIRES VIFOR. May 11,1965 [May 13, 1964], No. 19882/65. Heading A5R. Apparatus for the infusion of liquids into a body comprises a reservoir for the liquid to be infused, a duct connecting the reservoir to a pipette device, a device closing the duct and breakable at a definite point, and a joint removably connecting the duct to the pipette device. The closing device is secured in the end of the duct connected to the pipette device. The portion of the closing device released by the break is upstream of that portion remaining fixed to the duct. As shown in Figure 2, the closing device comprises a releasable solid portion 19 and a hollow portion 20 of larger diameter. The hollow portion is frictionally held by the duct 12, the other end of which is secured to the reservoir (not shown). The recess of the hollow portion is conical adjacent to the solid portion and defines the breaking point 21. The closing device has an annular shoulder 22 situated outside the duct at the end adjacent to the pipette device 14. The closing device, together with its shoulder, collet 23 and downstream joint element 24 from the joint between the duct and the pipette device. The downstream joint element, which has an axial duct 25 and is secured to the chamber 26 of the pipette device, is integral with a pipette tube 27 extending into the pipette chamber. This chamber has an extension 28 at its lower end to which is secured a duct 16 leading to the injection member (not shown). The reservoir and ducts 12 and 16 may be made of a flexible plastic material; the closing device is made of glass.
