Abstract
1,046,534. Lubricating. C. A. NORGREN & CO. May 21, 1964 [May 21, 1963], No. 20993/64. Heading F2A. A device for detecting failure in the supply of oil-mist to points of application in a lubricating system comprises an expansion or condensing chamber 5 (the only Figure, not shown) for oil-mist passing through a pipe 3 and a nozzle 4, a chamber 9 into which oil-condensate drains from the chamber 5 through a conduit 8, a float 2, a switch 12 actuated by a permanent magnet 10 on said float, and an outlet channel 6 for air separated from the oil-mist in the chamber 5. When sufficient oil is collected in the chamber 9 to raise the float 2 and close the switch 12, a relay 15 closes electric contacts 15a to render a drain valve 16 open, said valve being closed when sufficient oil has passed from the chamber 9 to effect opening of the switch 12. The relay 15 is thereby actuated to open a further set of contacts 15b at regular intervals, which contacts are connected to a timing device giving rise to either a visible signal or an audible signal when the flow of oil-mist through the pipe 3 is inadequate.
