Abstract

1,046,139. Consolidating drilling wells. CHEVRON RESEARCH CO. April 6, 1965, No. 14647/65. Heading E1F. An incompotent formation in an oil drilling well is consolidated by impregnating the formation with a liquid resinous mixture of epoxy resin and a polycarboxylic acid anhydride, copolymers in situ and flushing the formation with an inert liquid to render the formation permeable and yet leave a film of the resin around the particles. The epoxy resin has more than two epoxy groups in primary position for molecule and a viscosity of 50 to 500 centipoises at 150‹F. The formation may be treated to be preferentially wetted by the resin.
