A single point mooring arrangement providing mooring and cargo transference facilities for tank ships comprises a mooring member 13, Fig. 1 (not shown), anchored at or near the sea bed and a buoy (11) moored to it by means of one or more mooring cables (12a, 12b, 12c which are maintained within the perimeter of the buoy and which are of such a length that the buoy is held down against its buoyancy so that the mooring cables are maintained under tension to reduce wear.
