Abstract

104,452. Youngren, O. A. July 14, 1916. Body attachments, buoyant.-Consists of improvements in the life-saving suit described in Specification 1576/15, comprising a one-piece garment A with a single opening at the upper end and a hinged closure therefor. The garment A is provided at the opening with a curved bar 11, and the closure or yoke 15 is provided with a double bar 12 adapted to fit over the bar 11 and form a water-tight closure, as shown in Fig. 5. The frame is locked by means of clips 11<a> secured to a rod 12a on the bar 11 and adapted to engage with hook members 13<a> on the double bar 12. The bar 12 is hinged on the ends of the bar 11, as shown in Fig. 4. The yoke 15 is continuous with the garment at the back, and has a neck opening 16 with non-elastic strips 17 which prevent vertical stretching. The leg portions 9 are adjusted at the crutch to fit the wearer by means of tapes or cords 10. A lining of kapok, consisting of pads 19, &c., is divided along the line of the bars 11, 12 and is secured by tapes or cords. A liquid receptacle 23 is carried by a pocket or strap 24. A separate head covering 27, or a hood forming part of the garment may be provided.
