Abstract

1,043,093. Disc brakes. ANDRE CITRO™N S.A. Feb. 10, 1964 [Feb. 13, 1963], No. 5479/64. Heading F2E. The brake pads 5, 6 carried in a pivoted or sliding frame 4 are applied to the disc 3 by an overhung member 10 rotated by a lever 8. Recesses 10a, 10b in the member 10 engage adjustable and fixed points 11, 12 respectively on the frame and on the backing plate 13 of the pad 6. The plate 13 is notched and slides on guides in the frame while plate 15 of pad 5 is pivoted to the frame. Springs bias the frame and lever to inoperative positions determined by adjustable stops 25, 14. The lever 8, or two levers where there are two brakes, are operated by a single cable 17. When the brake disclosed is an auxiliary brake the hydraulic or pneumatic main brake with which it is used may employ the support 1.
