Abstract
1,042,764. Electrically-heated furnaces. MORGANITE THERMAL DESIGNS Ltd. May 8, 1964 [May 16, 1963], No. 19483/63. Heading H5H. An electrically-heated furnace suitable for melting metal comprises a bath 1 surrounded by thermally insulating material 3 and having an insulated cover 4 and hinged lid 5, the heating being provided by one or more immersion heaters each comprising a helically slotted tube element 10 of refractory resistance material contained in a sheath 8 of similar material sealed, through .the bath wall by a sleeve 9. Element 10 is removable and is insulated by members 11, 12. Partitions 7 protect the heater(s) each of which extends over a substantial part of the depth and width of the bath. Sheath 8 may be of ferrous metallic material and the element 10 may comprise resistance wire wound on a former.
