Abstract
Compounds of the general Formula (I) <FORM:1042210/C2/1> (wherein R and R1 are the same or different and each represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a C1- 5 alkyl, C1- 5 alkoxy or trifluoromethyl group, or R and R1 together represent a methylenedioxy group) and their acid addition salts are prepared by reacting a compound of the Formula (II) <FORM:1042210/C2/2> with a nitrite in an acid medium, optionally followed by salt formation. The starting materials are prepared by reducing a compound of the Formula (III) <FORM:1042210/C2/3> or <FORM:1042210/C2/4> The preparation of compounds of the Formula (IV) and of ethyl N-(5-methyl-2-nitrobenzoyl)pipecolinate and N - (4,5 - dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzoyl)pipecolinate and the corresponding 2-aminobenzoyl compounds is described. Compounds of the Formula (I) and their acid addition salts are hypotensives, diuretics, antiphlogistics and analgesics.
