Abstract

1,041,827. Centrifugal spinning. MITSUBISHI SHIPBUILDING & ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. June 25, 1963 [Dec. 25, 1962], No. 25197/63. Heading DID. In a centrifugal spinning pot 1 wherein yarn 5 comes from a feed tube 2 which is traversed with a fixed stroke and simultaneously lowered at a constant speed, that portion B<SP>11</SP> D<SP>11</SP> of the receiving surface on which the bottom end turn of each layer lies is identical in configuration to the surface A<SP>11</SP> C<SP>11</SP> formed by the upper end turns of each layer: each layer thus takes the form of a right circular cylinder and no tangling occurs when rewinding on to a tube 4. Theoretically derived equations are given for the shape of the portion B<SP>11</SP> D<SP>11</SP>. It is also stated that for non- tangling rewinding:- where r 1 and r 2 are the outer and inner radii of the roll of layers and h 0 is the distance E<SP>11</SP> D<SP>11</SP> through which the traverse is displaced. A rewind tube is described wherein the portion on to which the ends A<SP>11</SP>C<SP>11</SP> are wound is shaped as A<SP>11</SP>C<SP>11</SP> so that the layers on the rewind tube remain right circular cylinders. The rotational speed of the pot may be lessened during rewinding to prevent yarn breakages.
