Abstract

Compounds of formulae <FORM:1041785/C4-C5/1> wherein R3 is a hydrogen atom or a C1- 3 alkyl group and R4 is a hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom or a methyl, cyano, methoxy, ethoxy or trifluoromethyl group, are used as hydraulic fluids.ALSO:The invention comprises compounds of formulae <FORM:1041785/C2/1> wherein R3 is a hydrogen atom or a C1- 3 alkyl group and R4 is a hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom or a methyl, cyano, methoxy, ethoxy or trifluoromethyl group, and their preparation by (a) reaction of a pyrazole with dimethylcarbonyl chloride or bromide, or (b) reaction of a pyrazole with thiophosgene to form an N-thiocarbonyl chloride, and reacting this with dimethylamine. The compounds of the invention have analgesic, sedative, anticonvulsant, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory activity and may be used in pharmaceutical compositions in combination with a carrier, for example in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration.
