A multiple glazed window comprises sheets 1 of plastics material equispaced between external glass panes 2, 3. The surrounding frame may be stepped (Fig. 1), or comprise U-sectioned 6, Fig. 2 (not shown), or solid metal 7, (Fig. 4), sub-frames with sheets of plastics material, e.g. polyethylene terepthalate, on each side of each sub-frame, and either similar U-sectioned sub-frames 5, (Fig. 2), or resilient sub-frames 8, e.g. of cork, in between, the whole being contained in a rigid polyethylene main frame 11 in the embodiment of Fig. 4. A metal layer 12 may be applied to the frame 11 and stuck to the outer surfaces of panes 2 and 3. The panes or sheets may have a thin, light-transmitting layer applied to them, which layer may have a greater degree of reflectivity and absorptivity for black body radiation of 300‹K. than the material of the panes or sheets, or the sheets or the lighttransmitting layer may have strong absorption bands in large parts of the spectrum of black body radiation of 300‹K.
