[Also in Division B1] In a system for blending two lubricating oils of different viscosities to produce a mixture having a desired viscosity the differential pressures across orifices 108, 208 in the path of liquid streams flowing in conduits 102, 202 are used to generate signals to control flow rate controllers 110, 210 respectively. The flow rate controller 210 in the secondary stream is additionally controlled, through a ratio controller 250, by the rate of flow of the first stream to maintain a predetermined proportion between the streams; and this is further adjustable by a signal generated by a viscosity analyzer 312 in the mixed stream. The positive displacement meter 314 and integrator and preset batch controller 330 operate to shut down the pumps 104, 204 and valves 110, 210 when the total required quantity of the mixture has been delivered. The various signals may be pneumatic or electronic.
