Abstract

1, 039, 656. First aid packs. T. J. SMITH & NEPHEW Ltd. July 9, 1963 [July 9, 1962], No. 26276/62. Heading A5R. A first-aid pack comprises a flexible container 14 of polythene or other plastic sheet which is impervious to air and moisture, plaster of Paris bandages 9 and 10 and wet-strengthened paper or cotton bandages 12 and 13. The container 14 is heat sealed at 16 and the bandages together with an instruction leaflet 15 are inserted through closable opening 17, which opening is closed by heat sealing. A tear piece so (Fig. 6, not shown) is provided to facilitate opening of the container. When the bandages are required for use, the container is opened and used for permeating the plaster of Paris bandages with water before the plaster of Paris bandages are removed from the container and applied to the patient.
